Sports and Simple Present Tense


Sports, leisure activities and Simple Present Tense.

For a English learner it is very important to know the use of the Simple Present Tense. And in this blog you will learn how to use this tense by combining it with some simple vocabulary related with sports.

First the subject pronouns people will used when writing a sentence:

I
He
She
It 
You  (Could be used for singular and plural)
We 
They 

Second, an explanation of the Simple Present Tense:

This tense is used basically for things that are happening right now or that happens regularly. It is important to know that the verb will change depending on the person; when people is writing if  used the Third person singular (He/She/It) the verb adds -s or -es. *How people could know if is necessary to add a -s or an -es.*
 If the verb ends in (-o, -sh.-ch.-ss,-x or in -z) adds -es; if has any other ending adds a -s.

Examples:
*Words underlined are the verbs,

I like sports.
He likes basketball. (Noticed the -s added to the verb.)
You play soccer.
She plays soccer. (Noticed the -s added to the verb.)
She watches the football match. (Noticed the -se added to the verb, because of the verb ending)
They watch the football match.
You go to the stadium.
He goes to the stadium. (Noticed the -es added to the verb, because of the verb ending)

Third, a possible list of sports and leisure activities vocabulary:

Soccer, football, basketball, cricket, tennis, horseback riding, chess, table tennis, videogames, volleyball, baseball, martial arts, board games,   watch tv, boxing, ski, mountain bike, motor cycling, cycling, hiking, swimming, F1, hockey, gymnastics, wrestling, skateboarding, Nascar, lacrosse, dance, golf, archery, rugby, cheerleading, badminton,  surfing, etc.
